Kids go free: Honouring Bill Richardson's 80th birthday
Bill Richardson’s lifelong love of trucks began the moment his six-year-old feet touched the running boards of Snowy Kidd’s 1949 Ford five-tonner.
That moment shaped young Bill’s destiny: from collecting brochures on everything truck-related, to starting his own transport business in his early twenties, to devoting hours to searching for and restoring a spectacular array of vintage trucks that would one day form the basis of the Bill Richardson Transport World collection.
Bill always took great happiness in sharing his then-private collection of vintage trucks with the public: especially children. He loved seeing the wide grins and huge eyes of kids discovering his collection for the very first time – in large part because he knew all too well the sense of magic and wonder these powerful machines could inspire in children.
Every year to celebrate Bill Richardson’s birthday, Transport World offers free admission to children aged 14 and under, for one weekend only – but this year, in honour of what would have been Bill’s 80th birthday, we’ve got something extra special in store.
Kids will go free here at Bill Richardson Transport World for not one, but two, weekends this month. Admission to our collection will be free for children (those aged 14 and under) on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October, as well as Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October.
This offer is only available in-person – online bookings are excluded from the ‘kids go free’ deal – and terms and conditions apply.

As at all other times throughout the year, admission to the Bill Richardson Transport World collection is free for all children under the age of five.
