The $165-million inner-city redevelopment in Invercargill is a visionary project that will bring life and vitality to the CBD by replacing a full inner-city block with a new centre comprising retail, food and beverage offerings, office space, apartments and more. Invercargill Central Limited director Scott O'Donnell is excited for demolition to get underway.

Demolition will start from the current carpark space in the centre of the block, with contractors set to work towards Kelvin Street, clearing the east end of the block.

Some buildings included in the block will, however, be retained. Buildings that will not be demolished include the Kelvin Hotel, Reading Cinemas and the Bank of New South Wales building. Two building facades, including that of the former Southland Times building, will also be retained.
