Get pumped for Pedal to the Metal

13th December 2021

That time is almost here! Our Pedal to the Metal display is set to open this weekend – have you got your tickets yet?

Dozens of pedal cars from around the South Island are set to take centre stage at Bill Richardson Transport World this summer: and the whole whānau is sure to love this bright and zippy little display.

“We’ve got about 70 pedal cars from Oamaru down for the display, and the whole team’s working hard to get them primped to perfection before Pedal to the Metal officially opens on Saturday,” Transport World executive director Joc O’Donnell says.

“About a third of the pedal cars belong to the Bill Richardson Transport World collection, but we were floored with the response we received when we asked the public if they owned any they would be willing to display here at the museum,” she says. “So many people got in touch to offer up their beloved pedal cars, and we can’t wait to give them the Transport World treatment and share them with our visitors. It’s incredibly generous of people to offer up their personal belongings for a display like this, so we’re really grateful so many people wanted to be part of it.”

With a full spectrum of vehicles from mini Land Rovers to small-scale hot rods, each and every guest who visits Bill Richardson Transport World during the limited-time-only exhibit’s run is bound to find a favourite.

Pedal to the Metal will be on display between 18 December to 20 March 2022. Entry to the limited-time-only exhibit is included in the price of general admission to the world-class collection at Bill Richardson Transport World.
