Get set: the whole whānau will love the next exhibit zooming into Bill Richardson Transport World this summer.

One thing businessman Bill Richardson passed on to his daughter Joc? A keen eye for collecting!

If you’ve ever visited Bill Richardson Transport World – the largest private automotive museum of its type in the world – you’ll know our 15,000 sqm collection is absolutely chocka with treasures, big and small, collected by various members of the family.

Last year, Bill’s daughter Joc O’Donnell – executive director here at Transport World – was able to share her love of everything Volkswagen Kombi-related.

Coming this summer, Joc is set to share another collection favourite. Get ready – the pedal cars are coming! Bill Richardson Transport World is home to many of these colourful, compact miniatures: and our Pedal to the Metal display will see our pedal cars take centre stage.

“Pedal cars have always brought a big smile to my face – and they have the same effect on lots of people, especially the kids who visit our museum,” Joc says. “I don’t know whether it’s because they’re small and zippy looking, or because they’re so colourful: whatever it is, seeing them really seems to bring a bit of delight to people’s days.”
