Auckland to Invercargill flights resume

5th June 2020

The direct flight, which first began winging its way between Invercargill and Auckland in October 2019, makes it much easier and more convenient for visitors to access the southern city and has increased connectivity between the two regions. The flight was one of many domestic routes throughout New Zealand put on hiatus due to COVID-19.

Air New Zealand will operate a return service between Auckland Invercargill four times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight will depart Auckland at 10:35am, arriving in Invercargill at 12:40pm. The return flight will leave Invercargill at 1:20pm, arriving in Auckland at 3:20pm.

TW Events & Incentives events manager Adam Reinsfield says Air New Zealand’s announcement was a significant one.

“This is positive news for Invercargill, and for our local event industry. The impact of having direct jet access between our city and New Zealand's largest urban centre can't be overstated: it means Invercargill is a viable option when it comes to selecting a location for conferences, functions and other events, and means our organisation has been given the opportunity to remain competitive.

"Invercargill and the wider Southland region is renowned for its friendliness and its southern hospitality, and we can't wait to welcome our guests once more."
